Nissan Ranks Highest in Quality Among Mass-Market Brands in 2025 J.D. Power Study

Nissan has an impressive new accolade: it’s J.D. Power’s top-performing Mass-Market brand in initial quality! 

This reflects Nissan’s commitment to building customer-centric vehicles that deliver exceptional quality and satisfaction.

The J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) has served as the automotive industry’s standard for benchmarking new vehicle quality since 1987. Now, the study focuses on identifying the models that deliver the most problem-free ownership experience during the first 90 days.

This year’s study surveyed 92,694 buyers and lessees of new 2025 model-year vehicles, measuring problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) to determine initial quality performance. Nissan achieved the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles among all Mass-Market competitors, showing significant improvements in both quality and customer experience.

The study looks at 227 problems, which are organized into nine categories:

• Climate
• Driving Assistance
• Driving Experience
• Exterior
• Features/Controls/Displays (FCD)
• Infotainment
• Interior
• Powertrain
• Seats

When it comes to mass market brands, Nissan leads with a score of 169 PP100, followed by Hyundai at 173 PP100 and Chevrolet at 178 PP100. This achievement is proof that Nissan is 100% dedicated to customer satisfaction.

It’s interesting to note that infotainment issues account for half of the industry’s top problems, although the study showed improvement in 11 infotainment-related categories. As touchscreen controls have been installed for non-audio functions like climate control, garage door openers, and glove box releases, touchscreen-related complaints have increased.
