Nissan is turning over a new leaf with the, well, new Leaf!
For 2026, the Leaf said goodbye to its hatchback design and is debuting a completely new compact crossover look. This EV pioneer has been completely reimagined inside and out, now boasting a modern design, more standard equipment, and a larger cabin.
One thing that’s unlikely to change? The affordable price tag. While the exact starting price hasn’t been released yet, we expect it to stay in the $30,000 range.
Read on to learn more about the exciting new updates to the 2026 Nissan Leaf!

The 2026 Nissan Leaf: What You Should Know
The new Leaf will be available in four trim levels: Leaf S, Leaf S+, Leaf SV+, and Leaf Platinum. Here’s what you can expect!
A Bold New Exterior Design
As we stated, the exterior redesign makes the 2026 Leaf look like an entirely new vehicle. The sleek, aerodynamic exterior enhances performance and efficiency, taking this already eco-friendly vehicle to the next level.
Enhanced Performance and Charging
Two different battery packs are available: an entry-level 52 kWh pack and a larger 75 kWh pack. The base-level S trim is the only one that comes with the smaller of the two batteries, while the rest of the lineup gets the larger pack.
The new 75 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack provides longer battery life and superior performance in all temperatures. You’ll get up to 303 miles of range with this pack, and up to 214 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque thanks to a single front-mounted electric motor.
With dual ports, you’ll enjoy flexible charging without an adapter. On the driver’s side is a J1772 charge port, which is compatible with most home and public Level 2 chargers. On the passenger’s side is a NACS hookup for DC fast-charging that is compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.
Plush Interior with Cutting‑Edge Tech
The new Leaf features a more open interior with a slimmer dashboard, a dash-mounted shifter, and a floating center console design. The redesigned front seats and flat floor provide more rear legroom, offering a comfy ride for everyone.
The S and S+ have dual 12.3-inch displays, while the SV+ and Platinum come with dual 14.3-inch dash displays. Every Leaf features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google Built-in, allowing you to stay connected on the road.
When you opt for the Platinum+, you’ll get 64-color ambient lighting and a 10-speaker Bose Personal Plus audio system, which includes front headrest speakers so you never miss a call, navigation directions, or a single word of your audiobook.
